USA Goes for the Gold!

Tonight, the 2016 Summer Olympics kick off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and while much of the world has been focused on the crime, economic downturn, sub-par Olympic village, and overall terrible planning behind the Olympics in Brazil, there are more than 11,000 athletes who have spent their whole lives 28698644086_6e02bd8af6training for this moment. The USA is sending 554 athletes to the games, all with the hope of winning gold and standing on the podium to proudly take in the Star-Spangled Banner. The opening ceremony gets underway at 7pm EST, with some competitions such as soccer, having already begun.

A majority of disciplines will be televised on the NBC network which also includes Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, USA and NBC Sports. If you have an iPhone, Android, Windows Phone or Amazon TV you can use the NBC Sports App to watch the Olympics on the go!
